DOMAINE LE PIVE
LE GRIS NATURE
Just a stone’s throw from the old town of Aigues Mortes, the vines of Domaine Le Pive are rooted in the fine sands of the Camargue coastline. They surround the Chapelle de Pive, a treasure trove of 19th-century neo-Romanesque architecture. Although the wild nature of the Camargue reigns supreme, here more than anywhere else the role of man is decisive. To prevent salt water from rising to the surface, which would be fatal for the vines, canals (roubines) are used to maintain the freshwater table in hydrostatic equilibrium with the sea and the lagoons. In this fragile but well-preserved environment, on these organic and HVE (high environmental value) vines, the vin gris is the icon of the estate.
THE DELICACY OF CAMARGUE SANDS
Domaine Le Pive is located on the dune sands of the coastal strip formed by the meeting of the waters of the Rhône and the Mediterranean. The vines benefit from a remarkable local climate: Mediterranean above all, it gives magnificent sunny days that are conducive to good ripening of the grapes. Moderated by sea spray, it also helps to preserve the aromatic freshness of the grapes.
