Terroir & vineyards
The vines are located in the northernmost part of the estate, hidden between two valleys on sandy-clay soils with siliceous pebbles from the Miocene Sea. The warm and dry Mediterranean climate is tempered by the sea winds. Mas de Lunès is located in the middle of an unspoilt ecosystem of Mediterranean scrubland.
Secret de Lunès is a range of organic wines, which reveals the typicality of each grape variety from our Mas de Lunès property. Our Carignan Vieilles Vignes is made from 70-year-old vines with an average yield of 35 hl / ha.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are harvested at night by a grape picking machine with embedded sorting to preserve the aromatic freshness of the grapes. The grapes are directly pressed then we operate a cold static settling before the alcoholic fermentation carried out in stainless steel vats at low temperature (15-18 ° C) and in French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for 4 months, some (30%) in French oak barrels and the other in stainless steel vats on fine lees.
This Carignan offers a bright red dress. In the mouth we find these fruity aromas with a beautiful expression and soft tannins. An expressive nose with aromas of red fruits (cherry) with spicy (pepper) and floral (violet) nuances.
