Terroir & vineyards
The vines of Mas de Lunès used for this vintage are planted on a soil of red clays with rolled pebbles that are mainly limestone. We select parcels in AO Languedoc Sandstone Of Montpellier with split buds in the spring and decompacting clusters of veraison. The warm and dry Mediterranean climate is tempered by the sea winds. The estate is located in the middle of an ecosystem preserved Mediterranean scrubland.
An assemblage mainly composed of Syrah (70%) and Grenache noir (30%).
Vinification and aging
The grapes are harvested at night by a grape picking machine with embedded sorting to preserve the aromatic freshness of the grapes. The grapes are placed in a frustoconical tank made of wood and stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature of 23-28 ° C. The extraction of aromas and color is done through daily pumping over and load shedding. We then operate on a long maceration for Syrah. The breeding lasts 12 months; 50% of the vintage in French oak barrels, of which ¼ new, ¼ of a wine, ¼ of two wines and ¼ of three wines; the rest in stainless steel vats.
This Sandstone Of Montpellier with its intense red color offers a complex nose of red fruits, spices and garrigue. The balance in the mouth is remarkable, there are aromas of fruit and spices. The silky structure of this wine extends to a minty finish.
