Terroir & vineyards
St Chinian Roquebrun is one of five crus identified in the Languedoc to date. Schist is among the oldest rocks on Earth, and it is on schist soil, with its myriad cracks and faults, that the vines take root to capture all the elements that give this cru its unique quality.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvesting with sorting on the vine. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. Long maceration period for Syrah grapes (20 days). Malolactic fermentation in stainless-steel vats..
Tasting notes
A lively dark red color; the nose is marked by complex aromas of ripe red berries, spices and garrigue. Powerful attack, full-bodied in the mouth with long-lasting flavours and a fresh and minty finish.
Met & Wine Agreement
Serve at 16-17°C, immediately or within 10-15 years, with hare à la royale or a braised beef rib.
